I hope your week went well. Mine was a bit expensive as the engine light came on in my car. Luckily, I was not far from the mechanic. My car is 9 years old and has 85,000 miles on it. In looking back, I don't think I have ever owned a car this long. I usually only keep a car until about 80k miles as I get nervous about expensive repairs as the warranties are normally all worn off. I may not run my car to the car wash very often, and many times it looks like I live in my car, but I do make sure I get all the mechanics done when needed (yes I follow the schedules). I needed to replace my catalytic converter and a filter or two which meant quite a few dollars. Oh well, at least it's fixed and will get me through a few more road trips.
Other than the expenses of the car, my week went well. I tried a new restaurant (at least for me) with a lovely group of ladies. It was a fun night of catching up and eating some very good food. Yesterday, I attended a lovely bridal shower. Have to love an afternoon filled with love and laughter as well as being with old friends and meeting new people.
I did vote this past week in the VA primary. The Virginia primary was an open primary, wherein any registered voter can vote, regardless of party registration. I saw on the news long lines in other states and broken machines, which meant even more delays, I sailed right through and was in/out in under five minutes. I so believe in the right to vote and it makes me mad/sad that so many will not participate. I have voted in every election whether it be local or national since I was able. I don't care how you vote as long as you vote. I do hope the turnout is much better in November.
This past week I finished reading: "BLINDSIDE" by James Patterson and James O. Born. Book 12 of the Michael Bennett series. Two books from Reese's Book Club - "SOMETHING IN THE WATER" by Catherine Steadman. A psychological thriller with plenty of twists and turns. "WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING" by Delia Owens. Such an interesting book set in the North Carolina marshes, about abandonment, isolation, loneliness and so much more. My heart hurt reading this one.
