I know many people were on vacation this past week, so I hope wherever you were and whomever you were with, you made lots of great memories and captured them when you could. I hope you were able to put the phone down (so to speak) and live in the moment...sometimes that's the hardest part.
I started back to Jazzercise last Monday. I am taking it slow (so to speak) as I went to one class on Monday/Wednesday/Friday and I'm using 3 pound weights. When I stopped going a few years ago, I took 2 classes almost daily and saw a private trainer. I also was using 7 pound weights. I'm a little older and I'm listening to my body about recovery time. I'm sure I'll be adding in more classes slowly as I build my stamina and loosen the joints. They also offer some yoga and pop pilates sessions that I would like to at least try at some point. I'm definitely not walking as much because it's too hot and Lady can't/won't...LOL! I need to get back to meditation and reiki again...I've let them slide over the past several months, but since I'm thinking about them, must be I need them.
I got to spend a few spontaneous hours with my dear friends John and Melanie last night. They lost power before the storm and it was too hot to stay without a/c. I had to laugh because as they were on their way was when the power flickered here. Thank goodness we did not lose the power. They did brought wine and dinner so we sat and had a nice time catching up. They went home and when I went to bed they still did not have power. Hopefully, it's back this morning.
It was fun to do something a bit spontaneous as I'm truly not this type of person. I so want to be, but as many of you know, I need to plan/schedule. I don't have to be locked down tight so to speak, but I function better when I know what the day will be like. I know I get into a routine and sometimes it's truly hard to step out of it. Perhaps that's why work was good for me all those years - the days just flowed by (no matter how may meetings I had). How about you?
I finished two books: "TRIPTYCH" by Karin Slaughter (1st book in the Will Trent series)...murder/mayhem with twists/turns. "THE SATURDAY EVENING GIRLS CLUB" by Jane Healey. It's a novel based on some fact about a group of young women in the North End (Boston) in the early 1900s with different backgrounds/cultures and the changing times. A wonderful easy read. Any summer reading recommendations?
