This is the first year I did not have the outside irrigation system turned on because I was not here and, of course, it was a dry spring. For June, it's been hotter here than normal without rain. Well, it rained yesterday and I think the lawn was singing for joy...LOL! It looks a little relieved this morning. Guess, I better have the system turned on for the rest of the summer.
I have not ventured out too much except to pick up a few groceries and one meal. This week I will venture the water front and down town to check out the changes. The town made the main street one way and allowed the restaurants to have outdoor seating. I am hoping this helps them bring in some revenue and survive a bit longer until more normalcy arrives.
It felt like a long and tiring week. I took an afternoon nap almost every day. As most of you know that follow my personal FB page, I posted pictures of my treasures as I clean out my parent's house. Part of the reason I am posting pictures and telling stories is to capture the memories as I give things away or throw them away. It was fun sending pictures to friends and relatives that they might not have of their parents and grandparents. I've met with contractors and such to get work estimates and pricing for work to be done. I'm on a time schedule and want to get things moving quickly. I thought I was ready for all of this, but did not focus on how emotionally and energy draining it would be.
I have reached out online to people on local free sites who mention they need furniture and such, but although they express initial interest, they just don't get back to me. I figure we all started out with used furniture and pretty much everything else, but it's a different world. Charities will be called this week to line up a schedule for pick up. I think I'll feel more accomplished as the furniture goes out the door.
I finished reading: "THIS IS HOW IT ALWAYS IS" by Laurie Frankel. It's a Reese's Book Club selection. This is a story about family, secrets, perceptions, and complications. The main character is a five year old boy who says when he grows up he wants to be a girl. How his family handles this declaration and consequences of some of their actions are all part of this story. It's beautifully written.

“The only way that we can live, is if we grow. The only way that we can grow is if we change. The only way that we can change is if we learn. The only way we can learn is if we are exposed. And the only way that we can become exposed is if we throw ourselves out into the open. Do it. Throw yourself.” – C. Joybell C.
