Well another week down and many accomplishments. This past week was not as emotionally draining as previous. Perhaps because I see a light at the end of the tunnel so to speak. Stayed very close to the house because of the heat and the tourists...LOL! I made a few trips to the Plymouth Coalition with towels, linens, and clothes. The good news is after not finding any one to take furniture, the painter made a call and an hour later a friend of a friend came over and checked everything out. He came on Saturday with a friend and took almost everything. I must admit I was getting a bit nervous about how to make the furniture go away. While he was here I handed him a container of kitchen utensils, a panini press/grill, an electric hot water kettle and three lamps. I've said before when some one shows up they leave with extra. What was even better is that he seemed so grateful for everything. A few things the painter is taking. I will still need to get rid of a few pieces, but looking much better around here. The painter is about a little more than halfway done. The skylight and siding have been fixed. One TV is left and it will stay with the house as well as the sun porch furniture.
I will call someone to pick up the last few pieces of furniture as I get closer to an end date. I am not dealing with those free online sites - I tried it with such little success that it's not worth it to me. I even offered porch pickup. And, I have to admit I was a little creeped out by someone who supposedly wanted an item and then kept switching up the time until night. I had an odd feeling (like some type of scam might be happening) and finally just sent a don't bother note coming when no one showed by 9 pm. I definitely made sure the house has been locked up tight every since.
I can't believe the difference paint is doing for the rooms. The painter is doing a wonderful job and matched the color on the walls already. But it looks lighter to me. He works by himself and is so quiet I almost forget he is here. Every day, he moves the couch and a table back near the windows. I told him he did not need to bother....he said yes I do, I know you are sleeping there. I do appreciate it though. Wait until he sees almost everything gone tomorrow.
One of these weeks, I am going to jot a few thoughts/lines about what I've learned during this pandemic and periods of isolation. The other day, I spoke with a dear friend on the phone and we both have had some interesting reflections during the past few months. So much happening internally and externally.
This past week I watched a couple of movies: A Soldier's Story (1984). I'm not sure why I had not seen this movie. I found it interesting and educational. Billionaire Boys Club (2019) based on true story of 1980s ponzi scheme. Greed, naivete, etc in this tale. Round of Your Life (2019) a story of a young golf prodigy, family tragedy, and faith. My funny of the week....I recorded Forrest Gump as I had not seen it in a long time. I started to watch it the other morning and realized it was in Spanish. I must have been very tired when I set it up to record. At first I thought I was hearing things and then just laughed out loud. I'll catch it again in English.
I finished reading: "RELENTLESS" by John Tesh. This is a well-written memoir. "NIGHT ROAD" by Kristin Hannah. A book about motherhood, tragedy, love and forgiveness. I cried a lot reading this book.
