I noticed on walks this past week, lots of people working in their yards or on their houses. Patti and I super trimmed the pyracantha bush that grows in the side yard. It grows so fast and has the longest thorns. Believe me when I say you need thick gloves and soles when you are around it. Now to cut it into smaller pieces for the yard waste bags. A few more bushes need to be trimmed, but there is plenty of time for that stuff.
As many of you know I'm always looking or appreciating the signs of life and angels around us. Yesterday, as I walked Lady I thought I caught a bit of red out of the corner or my eye where we stopped to Lady to sniff sniff sniff. I turned a bit and there was a male cardinal sitting on a tree limb. I watched him as Lady and I started to move around and he just sat on the limb. I swear the cardinal was as close as I am to this laptop. He just sat there until Lady and I walked away and then flew off. I so believe that one of my angels was there.
My week was mostly quiet. I did pick up my new glasses and sunglasses. I snickered when I realized how clear the world is with the new sunglasses (then I remembered the old pair prescription was from two exams ago). I'm having a little bit of difficulty adjusting to the reading part of my new regular glasses. My old prescription was progressive (3 separate parts) and my new prescription is only two parts still progressive. I'm giving it time, because I'm sure it will all work out.
I had an dinner with a couple of fabulous friends the other night at Miller's Alehouse. I chuckled when I realized we were in time for "early" dining. It was a little busy because of March Madness, but overall everything was great. Besides it's always good to be with friends.
I caught up with one of my younger friends as I got to meet her beautiful new daughter. I met this young woman several years ago via other young friends. When my property management business was much larger, I leased an apartment to her and a couple of other young ladies when they first started out. As I told her, I feel like my own daughters have grown up as I watched them in their careers and lives.
I did do a little bit of property management business. I only have one house left and I did the house inspection and had work done. When this lease is done, I will fold the business completely. I was contacted by a few people this past year to increase the business and I turned them all down. This business started as a favor for some friends and has lasted a lot longer than I ever anticipated...LOL! It was a great learning opportunity.
I just walked Lady and it's awesome outside. I saw on FB yesterday a posting for "The Yellow Dog Project" and I love it. If you put a yellow ribbon around the dog leash it would alert others than your dog may need some space and not to approach. It could be for any number of reasons, but what a great idea. I will probably share it later on FB. It's perfect for Lady who is so skittish about other dogs. She's pretty decent with people, but once she sees another dog she gets so upset. She does make me laugh as we walk by a fence that may have a dog on the other side going a little nuts. Lady can't see the dog so it does not bother her, but she wants to stop and sit as she listens. I then have to practically drag her away because the other dog is really going nuts. As I write about her, she is sitting on a bright pink pillow near me just chilling.
