I started work again this past week. It was good to see my clients and I was so happy as they seemed to recognize me. One client remembered that I had traveled. Another client got out his slide trombone and explained everything to me as he put it together. He then played a few notes. I tried to get him to do this for months before I left town so I was excited to see him voluntarily give me a little lesson and performance.
I'm not much of a plant/yard person as many of you know, but one of the things I missed when I was in Massachusetts was the Crape Myrtle that blooms in Virginia and the south. I don't know if it's the rain we've had so much of here, but the colors are beautiful this year. I love the fact that it blooms during the hottest part of the year when everything else is dying off. I did not know until recently that they are trees as I always thought they were bushes.
Last week I talked about one of my learning moments during the pandemic. Could you relate? Another lesson was how lazy I can be. If I did not work, I was lazing about and eating everything in sight. Nothing was open (a good thing) and I did not want to be around too many because of my work. I have to admit my energy levels were also low. Without Lady to walk, I literally did nothing (at least until I went to Plymouth). I think it was a little too easy for me to be lazy. So now that I'm getting settled back into Sterling time to find a bit of motivation. I canceled my Jazzercise membership yesterday - I did not participate in their online class offerings (they have opened partially again) and my knee is really acting up. Plus, I found I did not enjoy it as much as I had in the past. I am definitely going to miss the people as many of them have been part of my journey for years. I'm back to work so I can start a routine again of self care again. I had my first acupuncture treatment in a while and will begin chiropractic sessions again. My extra niece in Minnesota recently received certification in Yoga for Seniors and is starting her own practice. I am participating in her class via Zoom and also providing some information about business and marketing. So exciting for her to be starting out. So I'm looking at this class as a start for me and I will build from there. How about you? Have you found yourself taking care of yourself and your physical/mental heath more or less? Is it time for a little self care?
This past week I finished reading: "THE ALL NIGHT SUN" by Diane Zinna. I found this book a bit confusing and depressing. Not one of my favorites - not sure if it was part of a book club or not. In the past few weeks I also read (but forgot to mention) - "THE HUNTING PARTY" by Lucy Foley - suspenseful; "SOMETHING IN THE WATER" by Catherine Steadman - suspenseful; "THE LAST ROMANTICS" by Tara Conklin - family and the ties that bind.
