Are you ready for the fall season of TV shows to begin this week? We already have the DVR scheduled with quite a few shows (new and old). We usually try to watch at least one episode of a new show and then determine if we'll keep up with it. And no I have still not watched any the stream services. I have,of course, watched Fox NFL Sunday for the past few weeks...love to watch the interaction between Howie and Terry as well as the others. At least the Patriots finally came to their senses and let someone go this past week. Not sure what they were thinking in the first place, but it's over now. Go Pats! Not a huge watcher of baseball although I follow the Red Sox....season is over as they were knocked out of contention for the playoffs.
Tomorrow is the first day of fall and I realize I have been back in Sterling for one whole season. As that just dawned on me, I'm not sure how I feel about it. Tomorrow also would have been my mom's (86th) birthday. She is on my mind every day and I know she's keeping watch over me.
I had the honor of being a volunteer greeter for two Honor Flights on Saturday. This was only my second time and it was so humbling. The first flight had at least 125 vets plus guardians and the second flight had 15 vets plus guardians. I was amazed at everyone who turned out to welcome them. There were two high school football teams, one high school band, one group of very young violin players, two therapy dogs, girl and boy scouts, and lots of other people. It was nice to be recognized by some of the other volunteers. It's an awesome way to spend a few hours. I'm already checking the schedule for when I can sign up again.
It's been an expensive few weeks. Between Lady and the vet; my dental needs; and my car having a few issues, I kept the economy going in Northern Virginia. Hopefully, the car will be good for a while. More dental work over the next few weeks - then that will be it for a while. Lady is holding her own and feeling better so hopefully no expenses there for a while. Definitely made me stop and think about being on a fixed income. Now to get back on budget.
Our dryer saga continues...LOL! The handyman came and removed the trim and entire door frame. He believes the doorway is wide enough now to fit the dryer in. He measured every which way he could think of so we'll see when it's delivered (not for another week). Our old fashioned dry rack is getting a workout, and because of the hot weather, things are drying pretty quick.
I finished reading: "Vendetta In Death" by J. D. Robb - murder and mayhem at its finest...LOL! This is the 49th book in the death series and I have enjoyed each and every one. I watched the movie "BlacKkKlansman" and found it amazing and powerful.

I am going to leave it here for today. Not sure if I'll make coffee or go lay across the bed since Lady is not up yet. Still on the hunt for an awesome apple cider donut...guess I got spoiled in Plymouth. Perhaps I'll get out in the yard this week and clean up the mess I made from trimming back bushes last week...we'll see. I hope you have a good week. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
