What can I say about the last few weeks...scary, anxious, and traumatic are a few words off the top of my head. It has definitely been a scary time for the world and will continue for a bit. A new norm in so many ways. I have so many bad words and thoughts that run through my head about those cavorting on the beaches just because they are young and believe they are invincible. I will admit I am angry at them! Part of me believes that if/when they come down with this virus, they will want to be the first treated and everyone else be damned. I don't believe young and dumb are excuses at the moment. I know that sounds harsh, but that's how I feel.
I can also list a few other words...kindness, hope, and charity. I would rather focus on these and smile at the many ways people are adapting. Neighbor helping neighbor, checking up on each other, free access to music/arts are some positives that has come through. I must admit it's been interesting to see the way some are entertaining themselves at home. It's good to see many small businesses and restaurants doing all they can to help the community and those supporting them to help them keep afloat. The educational norms have changed a bit, thank goodness technology can help in so many ways. Thank you to those out there helping others any way you can and making a difference.
For some of us (including myself) staying home is not so hard or a bad thing. We can self-isolate at the drop of a hat. As long as I have a few necessities (each person is different); for me it's books and TV, access to the internet to play solitaire, and food items I am set for days. I know many others that are having such a hard time staying home because it's not in their nature. They need to be around people and noise and such. I believe we are learning much about each other during this crisis.
I worked extra this past week to help out my company as more elderly are home. I will help out as much as I can during this pandemic. Definitely taking extra precautions for them and myself. My hands are raw from washing/sanitizing and I wear gloves much more than I have in the past. I am also realizing how many times I unconsciously touch my face...it's so hard not to.
On a lighter note, I used to say my parents were mini hoarders in their own way. They were fearful of running out of basic items and always had extra. When I shopped with my father it was always by two or four of something (never an odd number) just in case. I believe because they both were born toward the end of the depression and did not have a lot, they feared running out. Well, I have inherited a little bit of their traits so you never know what may be at the back of the freezer, closet or pantry. And, you know I'll never run out of ice cream, chocolate and something crunchy! Of course, my BFF is baking away so the house smells awesome!
Believe it or not I did not finish any books. I started reading, "WHEN WE WERE YOURS" by Lisa Wingate and realized I had already read it. Very good book.

Thank you to all those on the front lines of this disease for all you do to try and help people. My sister is a nurse and her floor has been turned into a rule out Covid 19 ward. Oh the precautions they must take in caring for the patients. Thank you!
I am going to leave it here for today. The sky is lighter and it appears it might be a nice day. I hope you can have good days where you are. Stay safe and self-isolate. Marie
