Well it's Super Bowl Sunday!! For the first time in a very long time my favorite team is not playing so I'm not as vested as I have been previously. I'll still watch the pre-game hoopla and the game (especially the ads), but I don't care who wins. I will watch the Puppy Bowl and the Dog Bowl as they are too much fun. I am cooking up some ribs to nibble on (not sure if any sides), but always have something in the pantry.
Overall it was a good week. I had dinner with some former colleagues, so enjoy these ladies and we shared much laughter. I was a bit spontaneous (not something I'm good at) through the week. I connected with my private client (have not seen her since October). We caught up and worked out a schedule with some ideas of how I can be of use to her. She is as feisty as ever and I look forward to our time together. I met a friend for coffee as I introduced her to the shop I have found near my house. Although this was on my calendar I was not sure I was going to attend this casual event called "Taste for Tourism." So glad as it was just wonderful. For $20 per person, we received six tickets to sample delicious food from 5 different local restaurants. There were also raffle tickets and auction. The money raised goes toward scholarships for students studying culinary arts and hospitality at local schools. It was a fun evening and I look forward to attending again.
I have been doing a little research/studying about anxiety disorder. Most of us experience anxiety at one time or another and we have the coping mechanisms to deal with it. But for some people anxiety can be crippling. In researching, I realized my mom for several years experienced severe bouts of anxiety and depression. I can look back in my memories and see the impact it had on her life for many years whether it be emotional or physical. At that time, it was not diagnosed as well as it is today and was sort of hidden. There are so many places to research and learn. If you need help or want to learn more, I found useful information on the ADAA website.
This past week I finished reading: "DEAR EDWARD" by Ann Napolitano. Very well written about a boy who is the lone survivor of a plane crash. The advantage of belonging to book clubs is that I am reading authors/books that I probably would not have thought about before. I also watched a couple of movies: Bookclub (2018); The Mountain Between Us (2017); and The Commuter (2018). As you can tell my tastes are all over the place.
