Lady and I have a new routine. For the past two weeks she gets up between 3 and 5. She wakes me up by shaking her head so the tags on her collar rattle together. If she does this once it's no big deal, but when she does this and starts to roam the house I know I have to get up. I put her in the backyard, she squatted and came back in to bed. That lasted a few days. Then Lady did not settle, which means Lady has more business to take do. So I throw on clothes from the day before and we walk. (I've said previously for some reason she does not like to do her business in the yard.) It's so weird walking that early in the morning. We saunter for about 20 minutes or so and after Lady finishes her business we head home. Extremely peaceful as we saunter along. I can hear the truck/car noise from Route 7 which is about 2 miles from the house. I have not seen any people, but I know who gets up early, who leaves for work, who has nightlights, etc. We try to walk in the middle of the street as I don't want to trigger any cameras. I know this time with Lady will not last forever so I'm trying to go with the flow while I can. I must admit last night was the first night in two weeks that we have not walked. Of course, I still woke up to check on her.
I do not go back to sleep. I remain quiet until Lady settles down and then I get ready for the day. I work out in the mornings now (so love this routine) so I clean up and get ready for class. Yes it's still too early, so I've been reading or checking FB. I normally take Lady for another walk before I leave the house. Most days I end up with a power nap (no more than 20 to 30 minutes) in the afternoon when I'm relaxed in the recliner and my head bobs...LOL!
Caught up with some friends this past week. Had a couple of great dinners and conversations. It's awesome catching up with people that I have known for so long. So many people fell off my radar between retirement and being up north for so long. It's great to see them face-to-face (instead of updates on FB). Still have more to see, but it will all happen with time.
I hope you are getting some summer downtime. We all need a break, even a staycation can be a break from the routine. I have friends that rented a houseboat for the weekend, what a glorious adventure and memories created for the family. I never would have thought of it.
I finished reading: "THE KEPT WOMAN" by Karin Slaughter. It's the 8th book in the Will Trent series. I had already read the 9th book "The Last Widow" and although I thought about reading it again, decided I have had enough murder/mayhem to last for a few weeks. Karin Slaughter is an awesome writer between the twists and turns, psychological warfare, and past versus present that she definitely influenced my dreams over the past month. Think I need a break, so I've started a light summer book. I've started building up my reading pile so I have a few items in reserve.
