Happy Birthday to the Marine Corps - Semper Fi! I have such wonderful memories of my parents dressed up for the Marine Corps Ball. My dad in his dress blues and my mom in a long gown all gussied up for a night of ceremony and dancing.
I started my new job this past week. So I'll be busy a few mornings per week. I think it will be just enough for me to start a routine. The commute is easy and hopefully the client will get used to me and enjoy the visits. If nothing else, it provides the spouse a bit of a break (I remember how those are needed). The spouse invited me to a Veterans program tomorrow morning in their complex where they will be participating. I can assist with my client and see how they interact. Now I just need to rearrange my workouts so I keep myself moving and grooving...LOL!.
It may be fall outside, but it's beginning to look like Christmas inside our house. Yes, we pulled out much of what we have and it's a lot! We sorted and purged (seems to be my words/mantra this year) and will donate items this week. The tree will go up today. I have to admit what started as a fun idea, turned a little sad as many memories popped up. I felt like I was closing a part of my life. I had to remember that I have not seen many of the items in several years and know in my heart those items donated will make someone else smile. I still have a closet full of Christmas in Plymouth that will eventually be sorted and brought to Sterling as well. We have not started outside, although a neighbor's house has been lit up since Halloween! I know many of you are laughing, but I love Christmas. Believe me, I'm watching those Christmas movies already. When do you decorate for the holidays?
A final update on the laundry unit saga in Myrtle Beach. It was finally fixed! They had to call in the GE techs to fix a leak. Over a month of drama to what I thought would be a simple solution of buying a new laundry unit. I'm still waiting for final notice of whether the maintenance people have finished repairing all the damage caused by the installation. But, overall the drama is done.
I realized the other day, I had not finished a book in several weeks. Well, I finally finished one. "REWRITE YOUR BRAIN FOR LOVE" by Marsha Lucas, PhD. I purchased this book several years ago when I was actively coaching. She writes about neuroscience and the practice of mindfulness and how working together can help you grow. It was written plainly and with some humor. What are you reading these days?
