We had some absolutely beautiful weather over the past week with cool overnights and warm days. The weather will be back to hot over the next few days. It was a bit steamy when I walked with Lady. My heart is with those in the path of Dorian. I hope it's not as bad as the predictions.
I have to admit my emotions and thoughts are a bit all over the place today. Two years ago today my family lost my dad. Although the memories on FB this past week are wonderful to see, they are also a little bittersweet. I am grateful for every day I got to spend with him during the last few years of his life and as many of you know he supplied many a fun "Life With Papa" story. Of course, I also would like another day with him. I picture him pain free, hearing and eyesight all clear, a big smile on his face, holding hands and/or dancing with my mom. I know he is with me and provides me signs whether or not I recognize them right away. I just hope I continue to make him proud.
I signed up (for the first time) to be a greeter for an incoming Honor Flight at Dulles airport next Saturday. I have always wanted to learn more about and be a part of this program, so I was quite happy to see it announced on a local FB page. (Local friends if you want to participate, just let me know and I can provide some information.)
It's coming up to local election season here - guess I better make sure I'm still registered locally. The signs have gone up (hate those things) and the flyers have started arriving. I met a local person running yesterday as I walked Lady. Thank goodness he caught me on the walk as I would not have opened the front door. We had a nice chat and I believe it's truly the first time he has been in this neighborhood and explored.
I finished two books this past week: "HOW TO FORGET, A DAUGHTER'S MEMOIR" by Kate Mulgrew. It's a story written in two parts - one about her father and one about her mother. It's her memories, truths, and foibles. Well written. "THE INN" by James Patterson and Candice Fox. Crime and mayhem in a small New England town. Fast paced.

I am going to leave it here for today. Not even a hint of light in the sky at 5:11. I'm going to try to lay across the bed and see if a nap happens. If not, I'll start a new book (always have one or two handy). I hope you have a good week. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
