What a week I have had. I am on the vacation of a lifetime with my friend Mary. I feel like this past week was a blur although everything we did was relaxed and enjoyable. For those of you that know me you have seen the adventures and some pictures on facebook. I have never felt so relaxed and at peace. I have always said the beach relaxes me and recharges my battery and believe me I am getting charged with great sleep, walks, food and vitamin d - no sunburn yet, but the freckles are coming out. How do you recharge?
The drive here was not bad as we did break it up. We stopped for a picnic in Islamarada and dipped our toes in the water. The traffic was not bad and we got to see the other keys along the way. There are a lot of people in town for a half marathon and I did not find out until late that it could be walked. Something to consider for next year with my walking partner Diane. Any excuse to come back to Key West in January...lol!
Just came from the butterfly conservatory - another of my favorite things. All I can say is breathtaking! To walk through this beautiful store and conservatory was amazing. I felt a butterfly land on my head and watched these gorgeous colors fly by and was almost overwhelmed by their beauty. So many items that I wanted to purchase for my home. What do you find beautiful? Have you become overwhelmed by the beauty of someone or something?
We toured Ernest Hemingway's estate and visited the Truman Whitehouse as well as climbed the Key West lighthouse. We have walked at least five miles if not more per day as this is a great walking city. The weather has been fabulous and I am not missing the cold. Although I know this will end at some point I am enjoying every moment that I can.
I had courage yesterday and put on the bathing suit and went to the pool. I even went in the water and just kept moving the legs. For someone like me to feel comfortable enough to walk around in my suit with just shorts was a big deal. I am more comfortable in my body than I was before but still have a way to go. One day at a time. What have you done lately to bring out your braveness?
As I said earlier I am blessed in so many ways. I am grateful that I am able to the this trip with my friend Mary and experience so many new things. I have met several people as people here just talk to each other. Last night we were walking down the street and suddenly heard my name. When we turned around it was the people we met the night before when we shared space for a glass of wine. She greeted me like we were old friends. We chatted for a second about dinner places and moved on as we were heading two different directions.
I am going to end it here as lunch will arrive soon. I hope you have a wonderful week. Take some time to breathe. I will post pictures at some point for those interested. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
