Well, how is 2016 so far? I think of the new year as a way to start anew. I keep hearing people talk about resolutions almost always in a joking manner. Which begs the question...why set them? As I have stated previously I'm not big on resolutions and/or setting goals. I definitely understand the importance of them for some people, but they don't inspire me. I usually get upset and discouraged if I go off track. I think guiding principles work better for me. I have a few new things I want to try this year. What about you?
I wish sometimes I had some fantastic insight or philosophy to pass on to you as I would not want you to feel you wasted your time reading this blog. I write about me and what I'm feeling. I do hope it is helpful and insightful to you in some way, shape or form. The questions I put in the blog are to get you thinking about your life. As a coach, I'm excellent at asking questions - drives my niece and dad crazy sometimes, but it's me.
For the first time on my trip from Plymouth, I stayed in a hotel at the airport. I decided that I needed some down time and my sister's family was going to have a party. Her children are young adults and I just did not want to be the party pooper. I also did not want to harass anyone in the early morning to get me going. It was very relaxing and not too expensive, but worth it since I had a morning flight.
I'm back in Virginia this month and I think it's funny that I was here about 4 days and had at least three naps. I never nap when I'm in Plymouth. I guess being home means I can chill a bit. It does not help that I've been fighting cold/sinus issues for over a week and I just feel tired. I have not let the tired feeling stop me from working out though, I am so happy to be back on a routine. I always get a kick out of how many people begin January with exercising, it will be interesting in February to see how many people are still participating. I am a bit stiff today between the cold weather (been very cold in the mornings) and the workouts, but it feels good. What about you? Did you make any changes in your routine?
I just cleaned out a couple of boxes that I stored in the garage from my work days. Since I retired 18 months ago I guess it was time to let some items go. I found a box of coffee mugs and vases. I kept a few of them for sentimental value, but have the box ready to go for donations. It actually felt pretty good to clean out a little bit. Now to get myself to keep doing this over the next few weeks. I know some people find it so easy to get rid of everything, I attach memories and then have to decide it's time to let the item go...not the memory.
I finished reading a couple of James Patterson books this past week - love murder and mayhem books. Of course, got through the mail that included several magazines and newspapers. I have kept the list of 10 books recommended by LinkedIn for 2016 and a list of the top 25 books from the past five years that I found on Amazon. Perhaps one of these days I'll get a few of them. What are you reading these days?
A big shout out to my niece Melanie as she received her Learners Permit. So proud of her!
I am going to leave it here for today. I hope you have a wonderful rest of the week. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
