I have been on vacation at my home this past week and it's been so nice. I have been able to get lots of things done including medical appointments and taxes. The best part of the week was seeing several friends and enjoying some nice social time with them. There are so many new restaurants, wineries, and breweries here, but alas I could not get to many of them. I have to say there are no good coffee shops around here unless you count Starbucks and I'm not a fan. I went for coffee most mornings at the bagel cafe where I went most of the time previously, but not the same.
Naturally, I did not get to see everyone, but it provides incentive for another trip. I focused on meeting people either singularly or a couple at a time as I wanted to be in the present moment and give them my full attention. I truly thought if there were too many people I would not be able to relax and enjoy each person. For those of you I did not get to connect with, hopefully next time.
Sunday I go back to reality and I'm ok with that. I may be a bit tired, but it's a good tired. I feel refreshed and recharged in so many ways. I did not realize how much I needed this break until I was in the middle of it. I am really good at recommending others take a break so I'm glad I decided to do it. I almost stopped the trip when papa was not feeling well, but he insisted I take the trip. I honestly think he needed a break from me...LOL! I so appreciate my sister and her family stepping in and taking care of things in Plymouth.
I did find out my bed is not very comfortable...LOL! I guess when your mattress is about 18 years old it's time to consider a new one. I have a sleep number bed, but even those do get worn out. I guess when I'm ready to come back to Sterling, I'll need to get a new mattress.
This past week gave me some time to put perspective on some things both personal and professional. Something we probably all need from time-to-time. I was able to spend some alone time as well and tune out the world a little bit. As I drove around this area I was amazed and I mean amazed at how much building/construction is going on - so many new buildings and roads. I was able to navigate my way around, but it did give me pause. A good way to test my navigation system...LOL! Life is like a navigation system as well sometimes. Have you ever thought about it?
I did have a laugh this morning. I don't know who was trying to reach out to me at 4:15, but suddenly I heard loud and clear "HELLO!". I jumped in the bed and thought - I know I'm in this house by myself! I did say 'hello' back, but I'm still wondering who it might have been. I'm keeping my heart open to see what happens.
I finished reading: "THE ACCIDENTAL APPRENTICE" by Vikas Swarup. (He also authored Slumdog Millionaire.) A very interesting crime fiction book about a CEO who approaches a young woman and offers her the opportunity to become the CEO of his company. In order to get the job she must pass seven life tests. An interesting read and something a bit different for me. I also finished some murder/mayhem stories.
I am going to leave it here for tonight. I hope you have a good week. Happy St. Patrick's Day! Take care. Chat soon. Marie
