It's been a very long week. My mom and I had a lot of together time as we had a few days of no additional help because of emergencies. We made it work, with minimal difficulty, because we had to. I always tell her when we have to work together so she knows I'll do my best. My mom has gone to a new phase where she hums for hours on end. I believe it's a comfort for her, but it can drive me a little crazy as she has a pitch that goes to my ear canal. Even Lady will look at me on occasion as if to say, why is she doing this? The other day, she was louder than the vacuum cleaner and all I could do was chuckle. When I hear her I always go in and sit with her for a while, but she normally motions me to leave or closes her eyes. As mentioned previously, sometimes I just sing to her for a little bit and hold her hand.
I missed my Saturday night at Market Basket...wonder if they missed me?...LOL! I know I should try grocery delivery or phone ahead pick up, but although I hate grocery shopping, it is normally my only break of the week. Plus, Saturday night is normally a bit less crowded than at other times. I have my list ready and I'll keep adding to it until I get to one of the stores.
I have to say I noticed over the past two months much less mail coming to the house in my father's name (especially from charities). I started returning everything marked deceased because I was tired of all the solicitations. I just can't believe how much money many of the charities waste in mailing stuff and junk. In the past few years, by September, my dad would have received at least 25 calendars from the different charities...so far this year two. I guess many received the message.
I feel so much energy in the air, perhaps because it's because I missed meditation class, but even Lady this morning was turning around a lot on our walk. It was as if she did not know which way to go first. And, although I always have a destination on our morning walks, the air felt a bit different...hard to explain.
Almost every week I receive a care package from my BFF Patti. I never know what will be inside beside my mail, local newspapers and always a surprise. When the weather is cooler, I receive baked goods many of which I passed on to the nursing home staff (after keeping some for myself). Since the weather has been warmer, I have received crunchy snacks and/or crackers to try. This past week in addition to a snack, I found a spiral book titled: "At The End Of The Day..." It's a book of sayings, thoughts, and prayers. I have not read all of it yet, but I'll probably be using some of it in the blog. Thank you Patti for being you and taking care of so much of my life.
Over the past week I finished reading: "THE KREMLIN'S CANDIDATE" by Jason Matthews - Final book in the Red Sparrow Trilogy. Took me a few weeks, but oh so good. Also, "DANCING DOGS" by Jon Katz - laughter and tears. Movies watched: "The Light Between Oceans" - sad and powerful; "Electric Horseman" - oldie, but never seen before; and "Camp Xray" - powerful story about Guantanamo Bay.

I'm going to leave it here for today. Excited about football season and the start of the pre-game show on Fox today. The HOA picked today to have the annual meeting at the same time as the Patriots game....hmmm do you think it was done on purpose? Well, at least they know it will be a short meeting. I hope you have a good week. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
