My heart is broken for the devastation from the fires out west. I can't believe how rapidly they spread and the destruction. The firefighters are unbelievable in their courage, strength and determination. They are in my prayers.
It's been a long and somewhat hard week. Mom did not feel too good for part of the week and although hospice was helpful as always, nothing happens when they are here. As mom is at a stage where words do not come easily, it is difficult for her to explain the sort of things that would help us help her. I think yesterday was the only day that I was not being a laundry goddess. Quite a few tears from me over the course of the week, but as the saying goes, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
Lady has been pretty lazy because of all this heat. Although she seems to pick the middle of the afternoon for a long walk. Naturally, she then comes in and collapses in a nap for a few hours. If we are getting one long walk a day in we are lucky. She has even been balking and dragging during our normal morning walk to the dumpsters. Ahh the life of Lady...wake up, go out, come in, eat, and sleep. I have to say though, Lady does patrol my mom's room to be sure all is ok before she will settle down for a nap.
I believe I mentioned previously that although I don't play many games on the computer, I am addicted to solitaire. I play the daily solitaire and mahjong games. Also, for solitaire every other day there is a larger collection of solitaire games to play and its open for 24 hours. Although it's a huge group of competitors in the game, I truly don't care as I just enjoy the process. Yes, it's fun to see where I end in terms of others, but I never check who they are or connect with any of them. I guess for me, it's another way besides the morning/evening crossword puzzle I work on, to keep my brain active.
I was able to go attend group meditation on Thursday. As always, an awesome experience. The energy of this group is amazing. I hope you get this type of meditation at some point as I can not put into words the experience.
Movies watched over the past week (all I have seen previously): Wonder Woman; My Best Friend's Wedding; and Terms of Endearment. I also finished two books: "A Separate Peace" by John Knowles and "Shelter In Place" by Nora Roberts. I'm also sporadically reading: "The Plant Paradox" by Steven R. Gundry, MD.
I am going to leave it here for today, I need to get moving and put coffee on and get breakfast started. I hope you have a good week and get to enjoy a bit of summer. For those of you starting the back to school process and/or have kids leaving the nests, good luck. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
