I was not up to par this past week - cold/sinus stuff nothing major. Just enough to make me off kilter. Thank goodness for Mucinex, fresh honey (an early Christmas gift); tea, and whiskey/bourbon (only before bed). Being very cautious around my mom as I would never want to pass this along to her. Lady was not up to par either and a trip to the vet revealed a UTI. As many of us know - so miserable (I did not know that dogs could get one). So we commisserated together by lounging a lot which was ok as the weather was not that great with lots of rain/wind.
I've been catching up with Christmas movies and baking/cooking shows (still have a way to go). I'm also fascinated by a limited series called Dirty John on Bravo. I have to admit the TV is on in this house pretty much from 7 am to 10 pm whether or not I'm paying attention. I have it mainly for background noise unless I specifically want to watch something. When I was young it was the radio or stereo on for background noise - always have to have something going in the background. Of course, every time I get in the car I blast Pentatonix Christmas CD...I'm sure the neighbors love it...LOL!
I am almost finished reading "A GIFT FROM THE SEA" by Anne Morrow Lindbergh (50th anniversary edition). I am almost certain I read this book before, but it seems to resonate with me more now. Perhaps it's the different stage of life I am in.
A huge shout out to my niece Melanie as it's her birthday! Wow do I remember that day and her surprise appearance. As many of the women in the family before her she is a force to be reckoned with; and as she weaves her way in the world, I'm sure she will have many awesome adventures. We will be celebrating later with our annual dinner together.
The daily and wacky holidays for the week...provides something lighthearted to think about:

I saw the following on FB posted by several friends and I found it so meaningful; so thought I would post it here. Although I can't pop out for coffee or a meal at this moment I am here. This time of year is not great for everyone, so my house is a safe zone. Coffee or tea can be on in minutes. Wine or beer can be brought out as well, My table is non-judgmental. Any family or friend who needs to chat eat or drink is welcome. We can talk, share a laugh, a cry, or just listen. If you're hungry, I'll feed you. I will always do my best to be available... you are always welcome!! This is an old school value that has been lost to technology...a text, facetime, gif or emoji is NOT the equivalent. I'm hoping, at least one friend copies this and posts it if you feel the same.
I am going to leave it here for today. I hope you have a good week. Merry Christmas!! Take care. Chat soon. Marie
