I have to be honest and admit I feel like I'm in the middle of summer doldrums. It's been so humid and hot that I have absolutely no energy (hopefully today I'll get some back). I have been hibernating in the AC (thank goodness for that invention). Although the week flew by, I can't honestly say I did much that I can recall. No worries, I took care of the laundry and, of course, mom and Lady, but not much else.
Lady was groomed this past week and looks gorgeous. The groomer understands Lady does not like other dogs so tries to keep her isolated a bit to keep her calm. She barked the entire time in the car going to the groomer, but actually was very quiet on the way home until we came in the neighborhood. Then, I couldn't get out of the car fast enough. I don't think I've ever met a dog that disliked the car so much,. Oh well, thank goodness we don't have to go through that every day. As I have mentioned previously, Lady is very picky about food. Well, we have her bowls sitting on paper towels in a large plastic Thanksgiving tray (thank you Kate for thinking of this). Believe me I have tried the mats (get moldy), different bowls, etc. The tray makes it easy to pick up, clean up and put back down. When Lady, does not like her food, she works her little tail off to flip her bowl over. So, when we put it on the tray, she was not happy at first and tried flipping the bowl, but it was not as successful. So now when she doesn't like her food, she actually moves the entire tray until it is under the kitchen chair in the corner. Yes, the water splashes, but its all on the tray and I can easily replace the paper towels. If I realize that she's thinking about doing this, I pick up the food bowl and leave her with water, but she usually waits until I'm not paying attention. Lady definitely provides me with laughter.
My mom had a very good week. Although she was in bed most of the week, she was engaged in her own way much of the time. She was not happy in the mornings as we had a new aide (Kayla was on vacation) and her arrival time varied. But the rest of the day went well. A few nights she even slept the entire night, which means I slept the entire night Mom hummed quite a bit this past week as she wanted me to sit with her for a bit until she fell asleep. When she woke up, she would hum again until I appeared. Her eating habits are still off; what she likes today, she may not like tomorrow. Thank goodness for peanut butter and jelly sandwiches - the "go to" staple for children and adults alike.
The political ads have started here for the fall elections. I do appreciate the fact that they only just started and have not run for the past six months. At the same time, I just hope they focus on facts and do not work at tearing each other down. I am so tired of people being rude and disrespectful that I think I will definitely notice those that are the opposite. Although I can't vote here in MA, I do pay attention to the happenings.
The daily and wacky holidays for the week...provides something lighthearted to think about:

19 National Potato Day
20 National Radio Day
20 World Mosquito Day
21 National Spumoni Day
21 Senior Citizen's Day
22 Be an Angel Day
22 National Tooth Fairy Day - and/or February 28
23 Ride the Wind Day
24 Vesuvius Day
25 Kiss and Make Up Day
I don't know where the time went this past week, but I barely read a chapter. I did read my mail and such (now to pay the bills...LOL!). I am going to make a concerted effort this week to read a bit more (play solitaire a bit less). At least I still completed quite a few crossword puzzles.
I am leaving it here for today. I need to get moving and make some breakfast for mom and myself. I hope you have a good week. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
