I have to admit I did not have an overly busy week. As I work at creating a new norm for Lady and myself, I find I'm up early (that's not new), yet I'm taking my time moving around and going out. I take a shower right away, but then laze a bit over coffee or water. I sometimes watch a TV show or two that I have on the DVR as I wait for Lady to get up (which could be two hours later). I have been slowly tackling one thing at a time in terms of cleaning out. There was a haz mat trash pick up yesterday here in the community and I brought them a bunch of stuff from the shed. The few things left I can bring down to the dumpsters as they are ok for regular trash.
I have collected a couple of decent size boxes so that I can start packing up winter coats/jackets from both papa and mema to donate to the coalition. This is the time of year for coat collections so good timing in terms of my clean out. After the coats eventually will be the rest of the clothes and hygiene products. I am donating one or two boxes at a time as to not overhwhelm the coalition or myself. It works out for both of us so to speak.
I find myself missing the noises of papa. I know that might sound funny to some, but because he would wander the house at night I got used to hearing the whistle of his hearing aids, the wheels of his walker or the banging of pots/pans. Sometimes he would make coffee or cook something at 3AM and then watch TV for a while. I never heard his TV as his hearing aid was linked to the volume, but I definitely heard the other noises. We could be in the house for hours and not talk, but I always knew from the noises where he was in the house. I know he's looking out for me as he still lets me know when I'm too much in my head.
Lady had a busy week as she was groomed (finally) and had a trip to the vet. She has conjunctivitas (who knew a dog could get that), inflamed ears and a heart murmur. I guess at 12 years old she should have a few things going on. I was impressed that she lost a few pounds over the past six months (I always cringe when they put her on the scale - just like when I get on the scale). So I'm putting medicated gel in her eye and drops in her ears - she does pretty well with both.
As I mentioned last week, I'm starting to do a few things for myself. I actually cooked a meal for myself this past week and it was pretty good. Of course, had leftovers as I will never only cook for one...LOL! Yesterday, I went to a local farmers market and picked up a few things. I then went to a craft fair - so many beautiful things. I picked up a Christmas present or two (perhaps something for myself...LOL!) I am looking at the local venues for concerts and such. I'm not a big fan of going by myself, but I'm not afraid to go. I also scheduled a massage and energy work for this coming week - these will definitely get me moving in the right direction. I'm definitely thinking future as I am looking at cruise for December 2018...LOL!
I am watching the PBS documentary on The Vietnam War. This 10-part series is intense and I only watch one or two episodes at a time. I'm at episode 6 which is about Saigon. I remember bits and pieces about the war and had relatives who served and the impact on them upon return. I am learning so much that I did not know.
I am focusing on the good things in life as I truly believe there are so many good people and stories out there to be shared. I'm not naive just want to stay focused on the blessings in life.
Congratulations to Valerie and Serdar who were married yesterday! I saw a few beautiful pictures on FB this morning. Although I was not there in person I hold them in a place of love.
I am going to end it here for today. I hope you have a wonderful day and week. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
