It was another busy week of cleaning and sorting. After many years, there is organization and room in the shed to walk around - gave a few things away and purged a few others. We also were able, after many years, to empty and close out the storage unit (one less expense). There are still things to be done in the house, but I am way ahead of where I would have been if not for Patti (my BFF) being here. She is a workhorse and her objectivity and organizational skills helped me take time to visit my mom and come home to order. My goal is to take a few hours a day to sort and donate over the next few weeks.
Poor Lady, with all the commotion around here she walks around some days in circles trying to find a good space. She is definitely my shadow when I'm home. This morning she is leaning over the back of the couch, head through the blinds, watching the neighborhood. I'll know as soon as someone comes into view. Lady and I are busy creating our new norm - we'll get there it just might take a little time.
I took a day off this past week..yes I know that's hard to believe. I went with my sister and Patti to the Foxwoods Casino in Connecticut. Only two hours away (if that) - spent time playing slots, watching people and just relaxing. Of course, I went out to eat at least once a day over the past week (breakfast or lunch). It's been fun trying NOT to repeat a place over the past month with Patti. We've had good food and a bit of fun being out for a while.
I don't know if I mentioned previously, but I applied for a part time job at the nursing home as a weekend receptionist. I figured why not, I'm there all the time. Well, as you imagine - although I received word that they received my online application - I never heard a word from them. I have to say down deep I knew that they would not hire me, but I thought I would give them first crack at my fantastic work ethic. I say all things happen for a reason so perhaps I'm meant for better things so to speak. Their loss is someone else's gain as far as I'm concerned. I am researching some volunteer opportunities so who knows what will happen.
I'm going to leave it here for today. I'm making asian wings and lo mein noodles (first time) for dinner today. Every time I make wings I try different ways. I hope you have a good week. Take care. Chat soon. Marie
